Alfred Becenti

NASCHITTI — Services for Alfred H. Becenti, 56, will be 10 a.m. Monday, March 5 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Tohatchi. Sherman Manuelito will officiate. Burial will follow at Naschitti Community Cemetery.

Visitation will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Mar. 4 at Rollie Palm Chapel.

Becenti died Feb. 28 in Gallup. He was born May 18, 1950 in Crownpoint into the Towering House People Clan for the Sleeping Rock People Clan.

Becenti attended Window Rock High School and Haskell Indian Junior College in Lawrence, Kan. He was employed as a journeyman painter with Fort Defiance, BIA Facility Management and Gallup IHS Facility Management. He received numerous awards for horseracing and was a former member of the AIRCA in team roping, calf roping and ranching.

Survivors include wife, Carmen J. Hebert of Naschitti; daughters, Latonia Becenti and Leticia Becenti, both of Window Rock; brothers, Freddie Becenti, Jonah Becenti, both of Naschitti, Mike Becenti of Gallup, James Becenti of Lukachukai; sisters Alta E. Peshlakai, Ilene Becenti, both of Naschitti, Mabel Holyan of Yahtahey, Edith Loretto of Gallup, Maebah Morris of Tohatchi, and one grandchild.

Becenti was preceded in death by his mother Sarah N. Becenti; father Herman Becenti; brothers Bahe, harrison, John, Frank and Ernest Becenti.

Pallbearers will be Donovan Becenti, Ivan Becenti, Brian Loretto, Virgil Loretto, Ronald Lucero, Darrell L. Morris, Patrick E. Yazzie and Anders Perry.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the Naschitti Chapter House following services.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.


Frank Jones Jr.

PREWITT — Services for Frank Jones Jr. 74, will be at 10 a.m., Monday, March 5 at Cope Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in family land in Borrego Pass.

Jones died Feb. 27 in Albuqerque. He was born May 1, 1932 in Crownpoint into the Hairy Ones, Zia Weaver People Clan for the Towering House People Clan.

Jones was a sheep rancher and loved to cook. He also worked on the railroad.

Survivors include his son Peterson Jones of Smith Lake, N.M.; brother Alfred Jones of Borrego Pass; sister Lois Jones Sandoval of Borrego Pass; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Frank Jones Sr., Chischillie Largo; brothers Eddie Jones Sr., Paddy Jones Sr.; sister Alice J. Charley and grandparents Jim and Bah Largo.

Pallbearers will be Nelbert Yazzie, Eddy Jones Jr., Edward Jones, Tom Nez, Ryan Hardy, Jimmie Platero Jr., Joey Platero and Fitzgerald Nez.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the Littlewater Chapter House following services.

Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.


Louis Charlie Sr.

COYOTE CANYON — Graveside services for Louis John Charlie, Sr., 60, were at 2 p.m., Friday, March 2 in Smith Lake, N.M.

Charlie died Feb. 19 in Coyote Canyon. He was born March 2, 1946 in Crownpoint into the Water Flows Together People Clan for the a Black Streak Forest People Clan.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
