Paper lists earnings of government employees

GALLUP — The Independent today prints the first in a series of government salary scheduled for this area.

The first one, printed on Page 27, provides the wages earned by McKinley County employees in 2006. In future days, The Independent will print similar salary lists for the City of Gallup, the Gallup-McKinley County School District and New Mexico state employees who work in the Gallup area.

The list that is printed today differs slightly from lists that have been printed by The Independent in the past.

The past lists only provided a person's annual salary.

This list goes a little further, giving the amount individuals made in 2006 based on what was reported on their W-2 form for 2006.

In addition to their annual salary this will included any overtime or bonuses the person made during the year. It also shows the contributions of the county to the person's retirement program.
