Man stabbed, killed at motel

By Leslie Wood

GALLUP — One person was killed Wednesday evening during a fight at the Redwood Lodge.

Detectives did not immediately release the victim’s name and were not available for comment because of the holiday.
Sgt. Erin Toadlena-Pablo, a spokeswoman for the Gallup Police Department, said the altercation was reported at about 8 p.m. in the lodge’s parking lot, 907 E. U.S. Highway 66.

A man was stabbed and died at the scene from his injuries, she said. Pools of blood were visible from the lodge’s sidewalk and were marked with orange evidence cones Wednesday evening.

Police officers investigated the homicide well into the evening hours Wednesday; however, Toadlena-Pablo did not immediately know if a suspect was arrested in the case.

She expects to release additional details about the homicide Monday once regular office hours resume and detectives are available for comment.
