Leroy Smith

LUPTON — Funeral services for Leroy Smith, 81, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 4 at the Manuelito Church of God. Danny Yazzie Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in private family plot, Lupton. Visitation will be Oct. 3 from 6-8 p.m. at Cope Memorial Chapel.

Smith died Sept. 24, 2007 in Phoenix. He was born July 4, 1926 in Lupton into the Black Streak Wood People Clan for the Black Sheep People Clan.

He worked on the railroad in various places. His hobbies included being a rancher, sheeherder, reading magazines and taking his dogs for walks.

Survivors include brother Pat Smith of Lupton; sisters, Emma Smith Burton of Lupton, Mary Jane Charley of Lupton.

Smith was preceded in death by father, John Tin Smith; mother, Alice Adakaii Smith; brother, Roy Smith; sister, Betty Smith Yazzie.

Pallbearers will be Nathaniel Burton, Elroy Yazzie, Bruce Yazzie, Jackson Yazzie, Perry Yazzie, Herman Charley, Olsen P. Yazzie, Leonard Yazzie Jr.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Lupton Chapter House after services.

Cope Memorial is in charge of arrangements.


Flora McClure

BELEN — Funeral services for Flora Rose McClure, 87, will be Oct. 6 at Fair View Cemetery in Salida, Colorado.

McClure died Sept. 30, 2007 in Los Lunas. She was born in Buffalo Creek, Colorado.

She enjoyed traveling, golf, and bowling in Gallup where she resided for many years. McClure attended Gallup Christian Church and was active in Rebecca’s and the Brotherhood of RR Trainmen Auxiliary.

Survivors include her son, James A. McClure of Los Lunas; daughter, Sally McClure Orr of Belen; sister, Shirley Egley of Pueblo, Colo.; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

McClure was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur McClure; two brothers; three sisters.


Iris Williams

GALLUP — Funeral services for Iris Louise Williams, 95, were at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 29 at Rollie Mortuary. Dr. Shaime Okunor officiated. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Park.

Visitation was at Rollie Mortuary, Sept. 28 from 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Williams died Sept. 24, 2007 in Gallup. She was born April 12, 1912 in Binger, Okla.

Williams was a homemaker.

Survivors include her brother Columbus Harper of Watonga, Okla.

Williams was preceded in death by husband Willie Williams; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Harper; brothers, Walter, Louis, Earl, Finley; sisters, Bernice, Maggie, Cora.

Pallbearers were Hence Williams Jr., Lawrence (Sonny) Williams III, Bobby Baca, Charles Johnson, Pat Mataya, Justin Haynes.

The family received relatives and friends at 1608 Helena Dr., Gallup.

Rollie Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.


Kenton Hodges

GALLUP — Services are pending for Kenton H. Hodges, 51, of Gallup.

Hodges died Sept. 30, 2007 in Gallup. He was born Feb. 4, 1956 in Kansas City.

Viewing will be Thursday, Oct. 4 at Rollie Mortuary from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
