Local man stabbed on Aztec Avenue

GALLUP — A local man was stabbed in the abdomen during an altercation along Aztec Avenue early Sunday morning.

The victim was identified as Devin Willie, according to Sgt. Erin Toadlena-Pablo, a spokeswoman for the Gallup Police Department.

City police officers were called to Gallup Indian Medical Center’s emergency room, 516 Nizhoni Blvd., at about 3 a.m. in reference to the stabbing involving Willie. Willie’s injuries were described as non-life threatening, and he is in stable condition, Toadlena-Pablo said.

Willie told authorities he was stabbed by two Native American men near the 700 Block of East Aztec Avenue.

The men were described as wearing red shirts, black pants and black shoes at the time of the attack. Willie provided no additional details about the men’s’ descriptions.

No arrests have been made in connection with the assault.
