Car-wash potheads arrested

By Independent staff

GALLUP — Standing outside a car wash in Gallup and smoking marijuana will still get you arrested as two county youth found out Tuesday.

Lt. George Justice, spokesman for the Middle Rio Grande Valley Task Force, said officers observed two males on Tuesday passing a joint at the car wash on 11th and Coal streets and arrested them on numerous misdemeanor charges.

Arrested were Dustin Daws, 18, of Mexican Springs and Wesley Daws, 21, of Thoreau. Justice said he did not know if the two were related.

Besides being charged with possession of marijuana, the two were also charged with possession of paraphernalia and carrying deadly weapons. Both also had brass knuckles in their possession when arrested.

The task force, using an undercover officer operating on a tip, arrested a Gallup man on Thursday.

Arrested was Pryceson Weahkee, 40.

Justice said the task force heard reports that Weahkee was selling prescription drugs. An undercover agent later approached him and purchased 25 hydrocodone pills, and he was booked on sale of prescription drugs, which is a second degree felony.
