Emma Brooke
LA MESA, Calif. Funeral services for Emma Lynn Brooke
will be Oct. 3 at Conrad Lemon Grove Mortuary. Visitation will
be from 5-7 p.m. Memorial services will be at 6 p.m. Service will
be in Fence Lake, N.M. on Saturday, Oct. 6.
Brooke died Sept. 6, 2007. She was born in Magdalena, N.M.
Brooke lived in Fence Lake with her family and briefly went to
Oregon during World War II to work in the Navy shipyards. She
graduated from Fence Lake High School, found employment with the
San Diego Union-Tribune Publishing Company as a copy kid
in the editorial department, later moved to doing different jobs
at the newspaper. She retired in 2002 after nearly 45 years.
Survivors include son, John C. Tuisl of La Mesa; daughters, Teresa
Webster of Waynesboro, Tenn., Victoria Pietrusiewicz of La Mesa;
sisters, Rita Stock,Virginia McDorman, Beatrice Montano, Rosie
Cogwell, all of Fence Lake, Ida Stokes of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia,
Peggy Pino of Gallup; brother, Daniel White of Zuni; four grandchildren;
five great-grandchildren.
Bercilia Cortez
GALLUP Services for Bercilia M. Cortez, 77, were Sept.
20 at St. Francis Church. Private disposition will be in Albuquerque
at a later date.
Cortez died Sept. 16, 2007 in Gallup. She was born Feb. 3, 1930
in Taos.
She graduated from Taos High School.
Survivors include husband, Nabor Cortez of Gallup; sons, Daniel
Cortez of Gallup, Carlos Cortez of Westminster, Colo., Reynaldo
Cortez of Miami; daughter, Loyola Garcia of Albuquerque; brother,
Benito Martinez of Denver; sisters, Delfina Quintana of Commerce
City, Colo., Floyda Pineda of Reliance, Wyo.; five grandchildren.
Cortez was preceded in death by her , parents, Antonio and Lucinda
Martinez and one grandson.
Pallbearers were Reynaldo Cortez.
Gene King
IYANBITO Funeral services for Gene Arthur King, 47, will
be 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 1 at the 1st Assembly of God church in
Gallup. Pastor David Tappen will officiate.
King died Sept. 22, 2007 in Tuscon. He was born June 10, 1960
in Gallup into the Towering House People Clan for the Bitter Water
People Clan.
He was a high school graduate, was in the U.S. Navy and he worked
in construction. His hobbies were horseback riding, country music.
He enjoyed being with his children.
Survivors include wife, Virginia King; sons, Bradley King of
Albuquerque, Malcom King of Zuni, Gene King III of Crownpoint,
Ryan King of Crownpoint; daughters, Tiffany King of Albuquerque,
Joan M. King of Crownpoint; brother, Darwin J. King of Albuquerque;
sister, Margie R. King of Jemez Pueblo, N.M.; five grandchildren.
King was preceded in death by father, Gene Autry King Sr.; mother,
Marie E. King; sisters, Marilyn A. King, Diana M. King; brother,
Marvin King; grandmothers, Etta Arviso, Nellie Benally; grandfather,
George King.
Pallbearers will be Derrick Toledo, Albert Arviso, John Arviso,
Bryan King, Travis Shetima, Bradley King.
The family will meet at Iyanbito Chapter, at noon, Monday, Oct.
1.
Cope Memorial is in charge of arrangements.
Winifred Jackson
GALLUP Services are pending for Winifred Jackson, 83,
of Gallup.
Jackson died Sept. 27, 2007 in Gallup and was born July 27, 1924
in Tanner Spring, Ariz. into the Sleeping Rock People Clan.
Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Rose Gonzales
GREASEWOOD SPRINGS Graveside services and burial for Rose
Marie Gonzales will be in Greasewood Springs Community Cemetery.
Gonzales died in Albuquerque. She was born March 13, 1942 in
Ganado.
Gonzales attended the Santa Fe School for the Deaf/Blind, and
the Tucson School for the Deaf/Blind. She worked at Greasewood
Boarding School as cafeteria aid and Winslow Clothing Manufactor
as a seamstress. Her hobbies were making crafts and cooking.
Gonzales was preceded in death by parents, Elmer Denetso, Jane
K. Denetso; sisters, Marie Damm, Josephine Lee; brother, Jimmie
Denetso; sons, Jefferson Arthur, Fred Elliott.
Pallbearers will be Alvin Denetso, Johnson Denetso, Ryan Arthur,
Jeconiah Arthur, Orville Damon, Amos Lee Jr.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Greasewood Chapter
after services.
Silver Creek Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
