Jimmie Casamero
MARIANO LAKE Veteran memorial service
for Jimmie Casamero, 89 will be 10 a.m., Saturday Oct. 4, at Crownpoint
Christian Reform Church. The Rev. Ted Charles will officiate.
Casamero died Sept. 29, 2008, in Mariano
Lake. He was born Feb. 5, 1919, in Mariano Lake into the Water
Flows Together People Clan, for the Black Streak People Clan.
Casamero attended Sherman Indian School.
He worked for the railroad, he was a WWII Veteran.
Survivors include his sister, Sally Thompson; wife, Louise Casamero.
Casamero was preceded in death by his
brothers, James Greyhair, Roy Kee Yazzie, Cecil Casamero, Woody
Casamero; sisters, Shubah, DeBah, Mary Casamero, Sadie Casamero,
Mae Casamero, and Julia Casamero; parents, Hostiin Tse-Na Ginny
and Asdzaa Chili.
Martha Tecklenburg
GRANTS Memorial services for Martha
M. Tecklenburg, 97, will be 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 18, at Trinity
Lutheran Church, 1100 E. Mesa Ave., Gallup.
Tecklenburg died Sept. 16, 2008, in Grants.
She was born Jan. 3, 1911, in Alva, Okla.
Martha taught elementary grades in Costilla,
N.M. She returned to Okla. where she earned a Bachelors degree
at Oklahoma Northwestern College, Alva. She had several teaching
jobs before arriving in Gallup in the early 1940s. She and
her husband moved to Taos and Zuni where she taught in the Pueblo
Day School and Zuni High School. In 1961 Martha earned her Masters
degree from NM Highlands University and made a permanent move
back to Gallup where she continued teaching until retirement in
1975. Tecklenburg was chosen teacher of the year in 1970, and
in 1974 the National Education Association of N.M. Northwest District
elected her to their Hall of fame.
Tecklenburg was preceded in death by her
husband, Bob Tecklenburg; parents, Edward G. and Ida Kletke; sisters,
Erna Randall, Hildagarde Kirmse, Ella Engelkeu; brother, Harold
Kletke.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be to Trinity Lutheran Church,
Gallup, Good Samaritan Society, Grants or to the charity of your
choice.
