GAMERCO — County deputies were dispatched Sunday to 718 Chino Loop in reference to one man beating two men with a stick.

The suspect was never found, according to McKinley County Sheriff’s Deputy Chavo Chischilly’s report.
Chischilly found the stick, though, which was 4 feet 5 inches long and splattered with blood.

The victims were taken to Gallup Indian Medical Center, one for stitches on his nose and head injuries, the other for possible broken ribs. Both men said they had been sitting south of the Tropics Bar when they were approached by a young man, described as in his early 20s, wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans and having “bushy” hair. No words were exchange between the men before the unknown suspect apparently grasped the stick and began swinging at the victims.

Deputies performed a ground search using canines, but to no avail.
