GRANTS — The polls closed at 7:00 p.m. and by 10:25 p.m. enough of the count was in for Democrat candidate Harry Teague’s campaign team to issue a news release announcing Republican Ed Tinsley’s concession in the race for the New Mexico District 2 in the U.S. Legislature.

The race was close district-wide, with Teague winning by approximately 52 percent to Tinsley’s 48 percent, but Cibola County clearly carried Teague by solid margins in nearly all precincts. Overall, Teague topped Tinsley 3327 to 1555 poll votes, with significant early and absentee ballots still uncounted. Tinsley won four of the county’s 25 precincts.
