Ruth Mitchell

LOW MOUNTAIN — Graveside services for Ruth Chee Mitchell, 79, will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, at the Chinle Community Cemetery. Pastor Ben Yazzie will officiate. Burial will be in Chinle Community Cemetery.

Mitchell died Jan. 31, 2008, in Albuquerque. She was born March 18, 1928, in Low Mountain into the Red Running Into the Water People Clan for the Tower House People Clan.

Mitchell was a housewife, her hobbies included spinning and carding wool, herding sheep, sewing and spending quality time with family.
Survivors include her sister, Maggie Chee Laughing of Phoenix.

Pallbearers will be Johansen Yazzie, Orlando Yazzie, Brian Yazzie, Carl Yazzie, Robert Baker, Christopher Begay.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Chinle Catholic Hall, following services.

Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.


Leslie Tracey

WINDOW ROCK — Memorial services for Leslie Tracey, 59, were 11 a.m., today, Wednesday, Feb. 6, at Cope Memorial Chapel.
Tracey died Jan. 30, 2008, in Fort Defiance. She was born June 13, 1948, in Fort Defiance.
Tracey was a high school graduate. She was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam conflict.

Survivors included her brothers, Ray Tracey of Albuquerque, Dwight Nelson of Phoenix; sister, Carol Linda Mecham of Provo, UT.

Tracey was preceded in death by her brother, Larry R. Tracey; father, Peter Tracey; mother, Bertha Tracey.

Cope Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.


Cornelius Leuppe

KINLICHEE — Funeral services for Cornelius Leuppe, 53, will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, at the Community Cemetery, Kinlichee. Pastor Harold Noble will officiate. Burial will be in Community Cemetery, Kinlichee.

Leuppe died Feb. 4, 2008, in Kinlichee. He was born August 11, 1954, in Ganado into the Bitter Water People Clan for the Red Streak People Clan.

Leuppe attended Kinlichee Boarding School and graduated from Highland High School in Albuquerque. He was a pipefitter welder and belonged to Local Union 469, of Phoenix. His hobbies included traveling, socializing, watching sports, rodeos, and living the “Cowboy dream”. He enjoyed family time, having his brother and sisters around and watching his nephews and niece.

Survivors include his brothers, Larry Leuppe of St. Michaels, Leon Leuppe of Kinlichee; sisters, Harriette Leuppe of Kinlichee, Marilyn Leuppe, Sylvia Leuppe, both of Kinlichee, Darlene Leuppe of Window Rock, Charlene O’Dell of Price, Utah.

Leuppe was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Annie Leuppe.

Pallbearers will be family members.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Kinlichee Chapter House, following services.

Silver Creek Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.


Martha House

SMITH LAKE — Services are pending for Martha C. House, 94.

House died Monday, Feb. 4, 2008, in Crownpoint. She was born June 12, 1913, in Smith Lake, into the Towering House People Clan for the Two Came to the Water People Clan.

The family will meet at 5 p.m., today, Feb. 6, at Smith Lake Chapter House, Smith Lake.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
