Ernest James

QUERIRRO CANYON, Ariz. — Funeral services for Ernest James, 57, will be 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 15, at the Catholic Church, Houck. Burial will be in Houck Cemetery.

James died Feb. 8, 2008, in Gallup. He was born Sept. 20, 1950, in Fort Defiance, into the Towering House People Clan for the One Who Walks Around People Clan.

James complete school up to the 10th grade in Sanders. He worked the longest for Union Pacific Railroad. James enjoyed playing guitar and being with his children and grandchild.

Survivors include his wife, Linda James; sons, Lance James, Brandon James; daughters, Donna James, Lydia James; brother, Herman Ashley; sister, Arlene Ashley, Irene Goldtooth, Julia Ashley; one grandchild.

James was preceded in death by his father, Yazzie James; mother, Mabel Yazzie.

Pallbearers will be Lance James, Cory Sam, Garrison George, Christopher Cly, Cerone Murphy, and Laroy Nez.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Houck Chapter House, following services.

Silver Creek Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.


Mary Dedman

NAZLINI, Ariz. — Funeral services for Mary D. Dedman, will be 10 a.m. Feb. 16, at the Church of Nazarene. Pastor Justin Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Nazlini Community Cemetery.

Dedman died Feb. 13, 2008, in Chinle. She was born Oct. 18, 1925, in Kinlichee.

Dedman was a life resident of Nazlini. She was a foster grandparent for 27 years at the Nazlini School. She was an expert in traditional foods, was a traditional rug weaver, and was known as “Blue Bread Maker”.

Survivors include her sons, Edison, Donald, Vance, Dennis Dedman, of Nazlini, Alex Dedman of Fort Defiance, Miller Dedman Jr. of Chinle; daughters, Virginia Burke of Chinle, Priscilla Thompson of Nazlini; brother, Paul Pokey of Woodsprings; sisters, Ileen Wilson, Francis Wauneka of Woodspring, Martha Jesus of Sawmill; 37 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.

Dedman was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mary Naglee Dokey; husband, Miller Dedman Sr.; brother, Robert Dokey; sisters, Margaret Nez, Jennie Francis.

Pallbearers will be Dennis Dedman Jr., Franis Dedman Jr., Vincent Nez, Ron Kirk, Chris Cooper, and Nathan Nez.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Nazlini Chapter House, following services.

Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.


Lindale Wade

GALLUP — Services are pending for Lindale Avery Wade, 81.

Wade died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2008, in Gallup. Born Sept. 14, 1926, in Lincolnton, N.C.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
