Mary John

MANUELITO — Funeral services for Mary Lamb John, 79, will be 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 22, at the Cope Memorial Chapel, Gallup. Burial will be in family plot, Manuelito.

John died Feb. 15, 2008, in Manuelito. She was born Nov. 25, 1928, in Manuelito, into the Sleeping Rock People Clan for the Folding Arm People Clan.

John was a member of the Oak Canyon Rodeo Club. She enjoyed rug weaving, bead work, sewing, herding sheep, ranch work, making traditional meals, gathering herbs, medicine, and was a medicine woman helping out people in time of need.

Survivors include her sons, Andy Smith of Manuelito Canyon, Avery John of Manuelito Canyon; daughters, Ruth Smith of Manuelito Canyon, Fannie Yazzie of Lupton, Bertha Jim of Manuelito Canyon, Emma Ben of Gallup; sister, Rose Yazzie of Manuelito Canyon; 19 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

John was preceded in death by her husband, Willie John; grandson, Ted Lee.

Pallbearers will be Andy Smith, Jeffery Jim, Ellery John, Aaron Yazzie, Fernando Yazzie and Avery John.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Manuelito Chapter, following services.

Cope Memorial is in charge of arrangements.


Felisa Pinto

RED ROCK — Funeral services for Felisa Jean Pinto, 16, will be 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22, at the Rollie Mortuary. Pastor Jake Yazzie Sr. will officiate. Burial will be in Gallup City Cemetery. Pinto died Feb. 19, 2008, in Gallup. She was born Sept. 7, 1991, in Gallup, into the Chiricahua Apache People Clan for the Red Running Into the Water People Clan.

Pinto attended Breadsprings Day School, Red Rock Elementary School, and was currently a junior at Gallup High School. She enjoyed drawing, playing guitar, writing poetry and horseback riding.

Survivors include her parents, Lena Pinto of Red Rock, Amos Dedman of Houck; brothers, Felix Pinto of Naschitti, Alex Pinto of Red Rock; sister, Felena Pinto of Breadsprings.

Pinto was preceded in death by her grandparents, Charlie and Jean Ann Pinto.

Pallbearers will be Peter Pinto, Roger Pinto, Richard Pinto, Jimmie Charlie Jr., Felix Pinto, and Rodgerick Pinto.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Red Rock Chapter, following services.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.


Katherine Lewis

MILAN — Services are pending for Katherine Shorty Lewis, 84.

Lewis died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2008, in Grants. She was born March 22, 1923, in Mariano Lake, into the Clumped Tree People Clan for the Meadow People Clan.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.


Gilmore Yazzie

BLUE GAP — Services are pending for Gilmore Yazzie, 48.

Yazzie died Feb. 15, 2008, in Albuquerque. He was born Jan. 3, 1960, in Ganado, into the Mexican People Clan for the Tangle People Clan.

Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
