Two new buildings going up in
Grants By Helen Davis GRANTS Construction is under way on two new
buildings slated to house government agencies in Grants. The federal and state agencies will lease the buildings
from BHM, who won the construction job in open bid, Meech added.
He said the company will provide landscaping for the buildings and
will be responsible for maintaining the structures and grounds for
the government tenants. When completed, the Conservation District offices
will be 3,600 square feet and provide 17 parking spaces for the
public, as well as reserved spaces for employees. Meech said the
Motor Vehicles project will provide 48 public spaces plus employee
parking for the 4,000 square foot building. Meech said he could not provide an expected time of
completion because weather and subcontractors always affect the
schedule of construction projects. He expects the MVD project to
get under way before the Conservation Division project is finished. Other high visibility construction projects under way in Grants include a tear down and rebuild of the McDonalds restaurant on Santa Fe Avenue and expansion and improvements to the Human Services complex on Mount Taylor Avenue. These projects are being handled by different contractors and are not related to the BHM, LLC projects. |
