George Billy Sr.

TOHATCHI — Funeral Mass for George Billy Sr., 76, will be 10 a.m. at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Tohatchi. Father Jose Redinbo will officiate. Burial will be in Naschitti Community Cemetery, Naschitti. A rosary will be recited 6 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 30, at the St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Naschitti.

Billy died Jan. 26, 2008, in Gallup. He was born July 25, 1931 in Rehoboth into the Water Edge People Clan for the Towering House People Clan.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Billy of Naschitti; sons, Ben Billy of Aztec, George Billy of Albuquerque, Dennis Billy of Tohatchi, Roger Billy of Farmington, Mike Billy of Farmington, Rudy Billy of Naschitti; daughters, Caroline Harris of Aberdeen, S.D., Rita Lavato of Albuquerque, Jennie Loy of Albuquerque, Janet Yellowhair of Twin Lakes; 28 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents, Ella Mae Hanet and Denet BIlly; sisters, Isabelle Henry, Virginia Henry, Annie Henry, Mae Yazzie; brohter, James Billy.

Pallbearers will be Roger Billy, Dennison Billy, Cory Joe Henry, Benjamin Billy, Rudy Billy, Jamison Billy.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Naschitti Chapter House, following burial.

Cope Memorial is in charge of arrangements.


Harry Reid

GANADO — Services for Harry Reid, 86, were 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, at the Presbyterian Church, Ganado. Rev. Roger Davis officiated. Burial will be in Community Cemetery, Ganado.
Reid died Jan. 26, 2008, in Farmington. He was born March 15, 1921, in Ganado into the Honeycomb People Clan for the Edge Water People Clan.

Survivors included son, Alfred Reid Sr. of Ganado; daughter, Beverly Hardy of Ganado; brother, Dale Reid of Salina Springs; 19 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Sean McCabe, J.P. Hollister, Frank Hardy Jr. and Brent Owens.

Silver Creek Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.


Micaela Rodriguez

LA HABRA, Calif. Services for Micaela A. Rodriguez, 84, were held Jan. 23, 2008 at Our Lady of Guadalupe, La Habra. Burial was at the Resurrection Cemetery in Montebello, Calif.

Rodriguez died Jan. 19, 2008 in La Habra. She was born April 15, 1923 in Madrid, N.M. She worked several years in Gallup and was a housewife. She liked cooking and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her sons Manuel J. Rodriguez of Gallup; Michael Rodriguez of Palmdale, Dalif.; daughters Mary Louise Olson of La Brea, Calif, Sylvia Tejeda of La Habra, Dolores Rodriguez of Pomona; stepdaughter Ruth Jaramillo of Gallup; brothers Paulino Acosta II of Gallup, Apolonio Acosta of Albuquerque; sister Mary Morales of Albuquerque; 18 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband Tony C. Rodgriguez; sons, Tony Jr., Daniel, Bonifacio, Danny Rodriguez; brothers Jesus Acosta, Joe Acosta; sisters Trini Acosta, Dolores Trujillo, Rebecca Mendez and two grandchilren.

Pallbearers were Paul Olson Jr., Cris Olson, Patrick Olson, Anthony Rodriguez, Matthew Tejeda, Eric Tejeda, Oscar Tejeda, Daniel Rodriguez, Joe Paul Rodriguez, Fernando Rodriguez, Jay Rodriguez.


Margaret Craig

DUNCAN, Ariz. — Funeral services for Margaret Lee Craig, 79, will be 2 p.m. Jan. 31, at the First Baptist Church, Gallup. Pastor Jay McCollum will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Gallup. Visitation will be at First Baptist Church, 1-2 p.m., Jan. 31.

Craig died Jan. 24, 2008 in Phoenix. She was born April 5, 1928, in Marysville, Kan.

Craig finished high school in Stockton, Calif. She worked at the El Rancho Lounge and Village Steak House. Craig loved to be with her family. Her hobbies included playing cards and listening to music. She lived in Gallup for 30 years.

Survivors include her sons, Johnny Jeffries of Church Hill, TN., Jerry Jeffries of Dimmitt, TX., Buddy Jeffries of Gallup, Danny Jeffries of Tucson; daughter, Debra Jeffries of Duncan; brothers, Leroy Sinderson of Kearney, Miss.; sisters, Vickie Burton of Kearney, Charlene Hale of Osagie Beach, Miss.; 21 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren.

Craig was preceded in death by her husband, James Jeffries, Harvey Craig; parents, Graydon C. and Virginia Sinderson; sons, Jimmy Jeffries, Bobby Jeffries, Michael Jeffries, Randy Jeffries; brother, Jim Sinderson.

Pallbearers will be Buddy Jeffries Jr., Shane Jeffries, Michael Jeffries, Isaac Roberts, Randy Jeffries Jr., and Doroteo Villa Jr.

Donations may be made to Hospices of the Valley Coronado Home, 340 E. Coronado Rd., Phoenix, Arizona, 85004.

Margie Hill

EL MORRO – Services for Margie “Wilcox” Darby Hill, 79, will be at 9:30 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 31 at Compassion Mortuary. Burial will follow at El Morro Cemetery. Visitation will be today, Jan. 30 at Compassion Mortuary from 3-7 p.m.

Hill died Jan. 26 in El Morro. She was born April 22, 1928 in El Morro.

Survivors include her family Melvin Darby, James Darby, Lilly Ramsey, Debra Mae Darby, Estlee Dominguez, Donna Elkins, Jason Darby; 17 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents Jason and Ida Wilcox; son, Jason Oliver; brothers and sisters Bill Hopper, Lilly Hopper, Royal Hopper, Olice Hopper, Herman Wilcox, Louis Hale, J.E. Wilcox, Gordon Wilcox.

The family will welcome friends at an evening gathering at the Grants Cow Palace at 5 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31.

Lupe Ornelas

GRANTS – Services for Lupe C. Ornelas, 77, will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008 at the J.T. Oswald Funeral Home in San Fernando, Calif. Burial will follow at the San Fernando Mission Cemetery in San Fernando.

Private visitation was on Tuesday, Jan. 29 at Compassion Mortuary.

Ornelas died Jan. 26 in Grants. She was born March 13, 1930 in Los Angeles.

Survivors include her daughter Bernice Rojas of Santa Fe and one granddaughter.

Matt Polich

FRESNO, Calif. – Matt Police, 70, passed away on Jan. 23, 2008 in Fresno, Calif. He was born in 1922 in the Red Rock Mountains above Gallup.

Polich was one of nine children born to Yugoslavian immigrants and he was a cowboy. He served in WWII and fought in Rhineland, North Africa and Central Europe in the C-Company of the 270th Combat Enfineer Battalion. He raced quarter horses and farmed almonds and trained horses.

Survivors include his sister Donna Robeck of Denver and brother Lee Polich of Apple Valley, Calif.

There will be no public services, but flowers may be sent to the Unknown Soldiers Mother.


Norman Ronald Cadman

WINDOW ROCK – Services for Norman Ronald Cadman, 51, will be announced at a later date.
Cadman died Jan. 26 in Window Rock. He was born June 17, 1956 in Cleveland, Ohio.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.


Larry Harris

ALBUQUERQUE – Services for Larry Harris, 61, will be at 10 a.m., Friday, Feb. 1 at the Cow Palace in Grants. Burial will follow at Grants Memorial Park.

Harris died Jan. 27, 2008 in Albuquerque. He was born Sept. 21, 1946. He lived in Farmington until recently moving to Albuquerque.

Survivors include his daughter Tracy Black of Grand Junction, Colo.; father Phil Harris of Farmington; brothers Wayne Harris of Thoreau, Buck Harris of Aztec, N.M.; sisters Tonya Harris of Aztec, Tyra Va Belle of Farmington and one grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his mother Betty Lou Harris.

Compassion Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.


Fen Bruce

THOREAU – Services for Fen Bruce, 91, will be announced at a later date.

Bruce died Jan. 28 in Thoreau. He was born Feb. 13, 1916 in Thoreau.

There will be a family meeting today, Jan. 30 at 5 p.m., at the Thoreau Chapter House.

Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
