Carolyn Bortot

GALLUP — A Rosary for Carolyn Bortot, 78, will be 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, at Rollie Mortuary. Private services will be at a later date.
Bortot died Feb. 29, 2008, in Albuquerque. She was born Jan. 6, 1930, in Shouns, Tenn.

Bortot was a lifelong resident of Gallup. She graduated from Gallup High in 1950. Bortot was a member of the Cathedral Circle and was in business with her husband for most of her life. She was a very devoted wife and mother and loved cooking, going on cruises and traveling with her family. Reading was her favorite passtime.

Survivors include her husband, Louis Bortot Jr.; children, Terry Bortot of Sparks, Nev., Valerie Chavez of Mesa, Aimee Stowe of Phoenix; sister, Nancy Wall of Gallup; brother, Rob Kocsis of Gallup; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

Bortot was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Kocsis; mother, Edna Mae Kocsis; sister, Virginia Gasparich.

Olin Slivers

MANY FARMS — Funeral Services for Olin Michael Slivers, 32, will be 10 a.m. March 6, at Many Farms Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Francis Draper will officiate. Interment will follow at family plot, Many Farms.

He died March 1, 2008, in Avondale, Ariz. He was born April 16, 1965, in Ganado, into the Red Bottom People Clan for the Red Running Into the Water People Clan. 

He was raised in Buckeye, Ariz., and was a 1994, graduate of Buckeye Union High School. He was employed as an electrician and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 640. Slivers loved sports, traveling and all activities that involved family and friends. He was very kind, compassionate and spiritual, always lending a hand to anyone. Slivers was full of life and great happiness, his nonstop joking and teases will be missed. He was loved very much by his family and friends. 

Survivors include his parents, Albert and Zonnie Slivers of Avondale; sisters, Iris Tsosie of Ferndale, Calif., Vida Esquivel of Avondale; brothers, Orin Slivers, Kevin Slivers of Avondale.
Slivers was preceded in death by his grandfather, Wilford Slivers, Sr.; grandmother Alice Steah.

Pallbearers will be Eddie Castillo, Tony Orosco, Larry Castillo, Anthony Celestino, Steve Celestino, Arthur Gonzalez and Oscar Gonzalez.

Silver Creek Mortuary will be handling the service arrangements.


Marien Martinez-Parker

PINEHILL — Funeral services for Marien Helen Martinez-Parker, 38, will be 10 a.m. March 6, at the Garcia Ranch Church of God, Pinehill. Burial will be in family land, Pinehill.

Martinez-Parker died Feb. 22, 2008, in Sumpter County, Ala. She was born Dec. 10, 1969, in Zuni.

Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.


Rose Livingston

GALLUP — Services for Rose D. Livingston, 78, will be announced at a later date.

Livingston died Sunday, March 2, 2008, in Phoenix. She was born Aug. 19, 1929, in Springstead, into the Black Streak Wood People Clan for the Towering House People Clan.

Family will receive relatives and friends at Baahaalli Chapter House, 4 p.m., today, March 5.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
