Lineman children’s fund set

By Diné Bureau

FORT DEFIANCE — Navajo Tribal Utility Authority has created an educational endowment fund for the daughters of Timothy Yazzie, a 32-year-old electric lineman who died last Thursday at an NTUA electric construction worksite near Coppermine.

The Timothy L. Yazzie Memorial Educational Fund has been established in memory of Yazzie, who had been employed with NTUA for three years.

“Like any parent, it is our belief that Timothy would have wanted to provide college education for his children,” said NTUA General Manager Walter Haase. “We want to fulfill his dream through the creation of this educational fund.”

NTUA will be spearheading various fundraising events internally and externally to help support the fund.

Yazzie’s two daughters are still in elementary school, according to Deenise Becenti of NTUA Public Affairs. The plan is to oversee the memorial endowment until the girls graduate from high school. All donations will be deposited in an account set up with Wells Fargo Bank.

To donate, checks can be sent to NTUA, c/o Timothy L. Yazzie Memorial Educational Fund, Box 170, Fort Defiance, AZ 86504, or donations can be deposited directly into the NTUA Timothy L. Yazzie Memorial Educational Fund at any Wells Fargo Bank.
