Billie, Sadie

RED ROCK, N.M. – Services for Sadie Billie, 78, will be 1 p.m., Friday, March 28, 2008 at Cope Memorial Chapel in Gallup. Burial will follow in the city cemetery.

Billie died March 24, 2008 in Albuquerque. She was born May 24, 1929 in Red Rock into the Meadow People Clan for the Bitter Water People Clan.

Billie was a homemaker and she liked to take walks.

Survivors include her daughter Louise Chee; brother John Joe; sisters Helen Billie, Aileen Yazzie and Ella Billie; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents Jack Billie and Mary Billie; sister Angella Begay.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Red Rock Chapter House after services.
Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Carpenter, Luther Jr.

GALLUP – Memorial services for Luther Carpenter Jr., 77, will be 10 a.m., Friday, March 28, 2008 at Rollie Mortuary. Pastor David Toppen will officiate. Private disposition will be at a later date.

Carpenter died March 25, 2008 in Gallup. He was born Nov. 3, 1930 in Montrose, Colo.

Carpenter moved to Gallup in 1938 and graduated from Gallup High School in 1951, where he excelled in track. He served in the U.S. Army and worked at the Ciniza Refinery until he retired in 1998 after 45 years. He played with the city softball leagues and enjoyed spending time with family and working on vehicles and his garden.

Survivors include his wife Gloria D. (Marlow) Carpenter; son Steven L. Carpenter of Albuquerque; daughters Nancy G. Gomez, Donna S. Casias, Linda J. Guldy, all of Gallup; sister Frankie Smith of Socorro; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Luther F. Carpenter and Velva Marie Coleman; brothers Charlie Carpenter, Ray Carpenter and Rick Carpenter; sisters Juanita Johnson, Frances Zuver and Rosie Long.

The family will receive friends and relatives after the services at 1128 Burke Drive in Gallup.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to your favorite charity.

Carviso, Wilson Jr.

IYANBITO – Services for Wilson Carviso, Jr., 63, will be announced at a later date.

Carviso died March 25, 2008 in Gallup.He was born Oct. 30, 1944 in Fort Wingate, N.M., into the Salt People Clan for the Black Streak of the Forest People Clan.

GALLUP – Memorial services for Luther Carpenter Jr., 77, will be 10 a.m., Friday, March 28, 2008 at Rollie Mortuary. Pastor David Toppen will officiate. Private disposition will be at a later date.

Francis, Joe

VANDERWAGEN – Services for Joe Francis, 88, will be announced at a later date.

Francis died March 25, 2008 in Gallup. He was born Dec. 10, 1919 in Lake Springs. N.M.

The family will meet today, March 27, 2008 at 5 p.m. at the family residence , 126 Skeets Road, Vanderwagen.

Wilson Carviso, Jr.

Sanbrero, Verlene

TWIN BUTTES, N.M. – Services for Verlene M. Sanbrero, 69, will be at 10 a.m., at Cope Memorial Chapel in Gallup. Burial will follow at Gallup City Cemetery in Gallup.

Sanbrero died March 22, 2008 in Gallup. She was born March 15, 1938 in Purity Rock, N.M. into the Folded Arms People Clan for the Overhanging Rock People Clan.

Sanbrero went to school in Stewart, Nev., and the Albuquerque Indian School. She was a housekeeper and enjoyed spending time with her family and weaving.

Survivors include her husband Larry Sanbrero of Farmington; son Larry Sanbrero Jr., of Anchorage, Alaska; daughter Verlinda Hoskie-Payaso of Twin Buttes; brothers Jimson Tulley of Purity Rock; sister Marion B. Toledo of Torreon, N.M.

She was preceded in death by her son Joe K. Hoskie Jr.; brothers John Jim Billie, Jimmie Tulley; sisters Lucy Wylie, Mary Toledo, Lillie B. Kanawite; parents Little and Zonnie Billie.

Pallbearers will be Gabriel Kanawite, Orlando Kanawite, Fernando Kanawite, Jarvis Kanawite, Michael Phelps.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Red Rock Chapter House after services.

Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Towne-Soto, Josephine

CHINLE – Memorial services for Josephine Towne-Soto, 64, will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 29, 2008 at the Catholic Church in Chinle. Sister Maggie Bohn will officiate. Private disposition will be in the family plot at Eagle Nest, N.M.

Towne-Soto died March 25, 2008 in Colorado Springs, Colo. She was born Aug. 9, 1943 in St. Michaels, Ariz., into the Water Flowing Together People Clan for the Bitter Water People Clan.

Survivors include her husband José Soto; sons McKee Dwayne Soto and Jock Soto; brothers Orlando Towne and Paul Yoe; sisters Alice Towne, Buddietta Warnack, Rosita Dennison, Pauline Towne, Yvonne Towne, Valerie Town and Rochelle Wood; and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by Bud and Racheal Towne.

The family will receive friends and relatives at the Towne residence, six miles N. Hwy. 191, Milepost 454.2.
