GALLUP — Authorities released footage Wednesday afternoon from the surveillance cameras that captured the March 23 armed robbery of a local restaurant on tape.

Two armed, masked men robbed the Carl’s Jr. restaurant, 405 Kachina St., at about 9:30 p.m. The pair threatened the business’ employees with handguns and demanded they hand over the restaurant’s cash. No injuries were reported. The suspects then fled on foot toward the nearby Applebee’s restaurant. They may have had a getaway car waiting there, according to a police report.

The getaway car may have been a white Ford Taurus or a black GMC Yukon, both of which were noticed in the area at the time of the robbery.

Officers interviewed one of the restaurant’s drive-through customers who said she noticed suspicious men at a nearby pay phone following the incident. Another witness said the men carried older model revolvers.

Police have yet to make arrests in connection with the robbery and seek the public’s assistance in the identification of the men captured in the surveillance footage.

One of the suspects is described as about 6 feet tall, with a medium build and thick black hair. He was wearing a Dallas Cowboys’ jacket and blue jeans. The second suspect is described as short with a shaved head. He wore a white bandanna to disguise his face and a long white shirt with baggy blue jeans.

Anyone with information about the robbery, is asked to call CrimeStoppers at (505) 722-6161 or the Gallup Police Department at (505) 863-9365. CrimeStoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of a suspect in the case.
