Fishing Contest
WHEATFIELDS — Lakeside fishing contest will be 6 a.m., July 18 and will end 4 p.m., July 19, at Wheatfield Lake. Trout only, largest fish wins, must have valid Navajo Nation Fishing permit, Wheatfield Lake only. Early registration is $30, day of contest on site registration $35. 1st place: Play Mate paddle boat with canopy; 2nd place: U-tube floating device with fins and pump; 3rd place: Dome tent. PETRIFIED FOREST — Fee free weekends at Petrified Forest National Park on July 18-19 and Aug. 15-16. There are daily ranger-guided programs to enhance your visit as well as Cultural Demonstrators on July 18, and Aug. 15, at the Painted Desert Inn National Historic Landmark including a Hopi carver Zuni fetish maker and Zuni beadwork artist.
