Solar Cooking
GALLUP — The Symposium for Solar and Retained Heat Cooking will be 9 a.m.-3 p.m., July 20, in the Health Careers Center, Room 105, UNM-Gallup. Will feature guest speakers who will discuss global solar cooking projects and more. Solar food will be cooked and available for tasting at the end of the day. Required documents: Letter of acceptance or award letter with letter head or higher educational institution/vocational education; Sawmill voter registration (if under 18 need parent(s) Sawmill voter registration, copy may be obtained by the Navajo Nation Election Office located behind Quality Inn; Certificate of Indian Blood; Copy of current class schedule for Fall 2009 indicating total credit hours; remember you or a representative is required during the chapter planning meeting and regular chapter meeting.
Music Festival
GALLUP — Gallup World Music Festival featuring an evening of opera music performances and wine tasting, will be 8 p.m., on Friday and Saturday, July 24-25, at Gallup Cultural Center. Local tenor Jason Winfield will be a featured vocalist, along with four upcoming sopranos, and an accompanist from the Arizona Opera company. Advance tickets are $50 per person or $80 per couple.
