Jerry Antonio

IYANBITO — Services for Jerry Antonio, 41, will be 10 a.m., July 23, at Rollie Mortuary. Mark Thomas will officiate. Burial will be in Rehoboth.
Antonio died July 17, 2009, in Iyanbito. He was born Jan. 10, 1968, in Crownpoint, into the Two Who Came to the Water People Clan for the Salt People Clan.

Antonio attended Churchrock Elementary School, John F. Kennedy Middle School, Wingate High School, UNM-Auto Mechanic, and CIT-Carpentry.

He was employed with the City of Gallup, Fort Defiance Forestry “Navajo Scouts Crew”, Giant Travel Center, Iyanbito Chapter House, and was a member of the high school basketball team in 1983-1986. He was awarded MVP, All Star. His hobbies included playing basketball, running, fishing, reading, and listening to the Navajo Sundowners.

Survivors include his sons, Geno Antonio, Orlando Antonio; daughters, Gerilyn Antonio, Ashanti Antonio; mother, Ada Haley; brothers, Arthur Saunders, Willie Antonio Jr.; sisters, Yvonne Tolth, Ruby Morgan; grandparents, Jimmy Saunders, Ellen Saunders, Kenneth Antonio, Mary Antonio; one grandchild.

Antonio was preceded in death by his father, Willie Antonio Sr.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Iyanbito Chapter House, following services.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Rose Henio

ZUNI — Funeral services for Rose Coho Henio, 84, will be 12 p.m., Thursday, July 23, at the Ramah Navajo Nazarene Church. The Rev. Gilbert Maria will officiate. Burial will be in private family plot.

Henio died July 18, 2009, in Zuni. She was born April 14, 1925, in Ramah, into the Coyote Pass People Clan for the Meadow People Clan.

Henio was employed with Ramah Navajo School Board Inc. for a number of years as a Parent-School Liason and Culture Teacher. She served on the Gallup Indian Health Board and other local community boards.

Survivors include her husband, Bailey Henio; sons, Dave Martine of Ramah, Bradley Henio of Gallup, Gilbert Henio of Ramah; daughters, Shirley Henio, Sherry Henio, Brenda Bee, all of Ramah; sister, Betty C. Martine of Ramah; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.

Henio was preceded in death by her mother, Lena Yazzie Pino; father, John Coho; children, Grace Martine, Cecelia Benally, Ernest Henio, Anderson Henio; step-father, Kee Yazzie Pino.

Pallbearers will be Clinton Martine, Bernard Henio, Ryan Henio, Jay Cee Bee, Andre Pat, Jason Andrews.

Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
