Gathering protests hate crime charges Copyright © 2009 GRANTS — A small group of people gathered Wednesday at the Cibola County Detention Center, carrying signs and holding a small protest against aspects of the charges against Shawn Longoria. Longoria, 22, was arrested in June on eight felony charges related to the beatings of Native American men in downtown Grants between June 9 and June 17. Charges include six counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, robbery and aggravated burglary. Three other men are suspected of being involved in the beatings.
