County gets some state money for new schools

GALLUP — The Gallup-McKinley County School District did so-so last week before the state Public School Capital Outlay Council, getting funds to replace Thoreau Middle School and pay for the design of a new Crownpoint Elementary.

The Gallup-McKinley County School District came back with about $11 million in funding, which is less than a quarter of the amount that it accepted last year when it received funding for the rebuilding of Miyamura High School and renovation of Gallup-Mid School.
