Jose Chavez Jr.

ALBUQUERQUE — Funeral Mass for Jose L. Chavez Jr., 63, will be 10 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 8, at Our Lady of Annunciation Church, Albuquerque. A rosary will be recited 7 p.m., Friday, Aug. 7, at St. Francis Xavier Church, Albuquerque.

Internment will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
Chavez died Monday, Aug. 3, 2009, in Albuquerque. He was born May 17, 1946, in Gallup.

Lt. Chavez retired from the Gallup Fire Department Sept. 1, 1992.

Survivors include his wife, Betty L. Chavez of Albuquerque; sons, Derrick Marrufo, Sr. of Albuquerque, Adrian Marrufo, Jr. of Gallup, Marc Chavez of Albuquerque; daughters, Jozette Chavez, Melanie Chavez of Albuquerque; father, Jose L. Chavez Sr.; sisters, Mary Noonen, Della Rosales, Margie George, all of Gallup; brothers, Manuel Chavez, Eddy Chavez, all of Phoenix; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

Chavez was preceded in death by his mother, Antonia Escamilla Chavez; sister, Justina Chavez; brothers, Stephen Chavez, Joseph Chavez; one grandson.

Pallbearers will be Eric Madrid, Miguel Palacios, David Palacios Jr., Louis Palacios Jr., Sean Noonen, Anthony Marrufo.

Ronald Skolte Sr.

GALLUP — Funeral service for Ronald O. Skolte Sr., 52, will be 11 a.m., Friday, Aug. 7, at New Life Apostolic Church. The Rev. Wesley Eastridge will officiate. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, Aug. 10, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church. The Rev. Patrick Wedeking will officiate. A rosary will be recited at 10 a.m., Monday, Aug. 10, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church. Burial will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 11, at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe.

Skolte died July 23, 2009, in Gallup. He was born on July 2, 1957, in Sacramento, Calif.
Skolte was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church, and was the elected Grand Knight of Gallup Knights of Columbus Council #1783. He was also a member of councils in Tennessee, Minnesota, and California. He served in the United States Marines. Skolte attended New Life Apostolic Church with his fiancé.  He will always be remembered as a perfect gentleman, who was always willing to help anyone he could. He will be missed by all that knew him.

Survivors include his fiancée, Tina Mulliner of Gallup; children, Ronald O. Skolte Jr., Rosemary Skolte, Robert Skolte, Rebecca Skolte. 

Skolte was preceded in death by his Parents; John and Yvonne Skolte.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Long, John Montano, Gordon House, Zeke Gonzales, Mike Chavez, John Peterson, and Arnie Morales.

Gallup Knights of Columbus will serve as pallbearers and honor guard.
