Miss Pre Teen

LUKACHUKAI — If you are interested in the 24th annual central Navajo Nation Fair Miss Central Pre-Teen Pageant 2009-2010, you are welcome to apply. Criteria: Must not be a current consecutive title holder; must be between the ages of 9-13 years old; must be attending elementary or junior high; must be an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation and live within the Chinle agency; must be willing to learn how to speak Navajo and learn more about Navajo culture and tradition. Adult Care

GALLUP — UNM-G is a sponsor of the Child and Adult Care Food Program. All adults enrolled in an adult day care program will be offered the same meals with no physical segregation of, or other discriminatory action against any adult because of race, color, age, national origin, sex or disability. Adult participants enrolled in an adult day care program and who are members of food stamp households or who are SSI or Medicaid participants are automatically eligible for free benefits.

Checkpoints

New Mexico State Police sobriety checkpoints will be Aug. 14, within the San Juan County. This is designed to apprehend drunk drivers and make the highways safer. Questions call Sergeant Ron Foreman.

Jump Start

GALLUP — Gallup-McKinley County School District Jump Start Day for all preK, Kindergarten and 6th and 9th grade students, will be 8-11 a.m., Aug. 14. Pyramid Rock

RED ROCK — Dedication of the Pyramid Rock Trail at Red Rock Park will be 8 a.m., Aug. 14. Take time to enjoy the scenery during an open hike along the trail from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. Refreshments served. Info call 863-1240.
