Deaths

Alfred Begay Sr.

CHINLE — Funeral service for Alfred Tsosie Begay Sr., 88, will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 16, at Chinle Catholic Church. Burial will be in Chinle Veteran Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 a.m., Sept. 16, at Chinle Catholic Church.

Begay died Sept. 11, 2009, in Chinle. He was born Aug. 8, 1921, in Black Mountain, into the Red Bottom People Clan for the Towering House People Clan.

Begay attended Wingate High School. He was drafted into the Military in 1943, and received Philippine Liberation with 2 bronze stars, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Metal, World War II Victory Metal, TWX WD 23 Oct. 45, and the Good Conduct Metal. He worked for Santa Fe Railroad and Union Pacific Railroad. His hobbies were Carpentry, silver smithing, auto mechanic and farming.

Survivors include his wife, Rose Francis Begay; sons, Andrew Begay, Phillip Begay; daughters, Rose Guy, Marie Burbank, Carol Begay, Rosita Cisco; sisters, Rose Begay, Elizabeth Naize.

Begay was preceded in death by his sons, Alfred Begay Jr., Allen Begay, Herman Begay, Larry Begay; parents, Hosteen and Attsonasbah Begay; sister, Elouise Begay; brothers, William Begay, Gorman Begay, John Begay, Kee Begay, Hosteen Begay.

The family will receive relatives and friends at family residence, 100 yards north of Chinle Court House, following services.

Tse Bonito Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Dmytro Dydzyk

GALLUP — Memorial service for Dmytro Mike Dydzyk, 82, will be 7 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 16, at Rollie Mortuary. A rosary will be recited at Rollie Mortuary.

Dydzyk died Sept. 12, 2009, in Gallup. He was born Sept. 21, 1927, in Polona, Poland.

Dydzyk was an operating engineer.

Survivors include his sons Chris of Temecula, Calif., Ronnie of Grantspass, Ore., Rick of Bandon, Ore., Danny of Apple Valley, Calif.; sister, Mary Cruz of New Jersey.

Dydzyk was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Dydzyk, Anna Dydzyk.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Tommy Joe Jr.

LUPTON — Graveside services for Tommy Joe Jr., 57, were 10:30 a.m., today, Sept. 15, on family property, Lupton. Regan and Roy Hawthorne officiated. Burial was in family land, Lupton.

Joe died Sept. 3, 2009, in Gallup. He was born April 1, 1952, in Fort Defiance, into the Tsénahabiltui People Clan for the Mescalero, Apache People Clan.

Joe attended Haskel Indian College and NMSU in Las Cruces, majoring in Agriculture.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Tom Joe Sr., Mary James Joe; grandparents, Dean and Bah James Houston.

Pallbearers were Christopher Upshaw, Ruphay Peneloza, André Coleman, Larry Upshaw, Gene Joe, Aaron Pinto.

The family received relatives and friends at Lupton Chapter House, following services.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Evalena Sanchez

GRANTS — Services are pending for Evalena Sanchez, 79.

Sanchez died Sept. 13, 2009, in Albuquerque.

She was born Feb. 24, 1930, in Hockerville, Okla.
