Copyright © 2009 WINDOW ROCK — Tolani Lake Chapter is sitting on a gold mine — the Coconino Sandstone aquifer, one of the most extensive sources of groundwater in the state of Arizona. Unfortunately, it tastes so bad nobody can use it. But that could change soon. Tolani Lake Chapter, working with the Navajo Nation Department of Water Resources, is planning to pursue a grant from the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation for development of the Southwest Navajo Rural Water Supply Project.
