GRANTS — What many Cibola County locals have known since April is now official. Badlands Burgers are bad, in a good way.

Badlands owner Daniel Chavez said business at the burger restaurant has been good since his mother’s former restaurant, Chili Kicks on Route 66, reopened as his burger joint. But since the burgers were declared the best when Chavez’s chile cheeseburger won the Governor’s Green Chile Cheeseburger Challenge at the New Mexico State Fair last week, even getting into the restaurant has become a daunting task.
