Reuben Antonio

GALLUP — Services for Reuben Chee Antonio, 27, will be 10 a.m., Friday, Oct. 2, at Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Church, Pueblo Alto. Burial will be in Starlake Memorial Garden, Starlake.

Antonio died Sept. 29, 2009, in Gallup. He was born Sept. 16, 1982, in Shiprock, into the Tangle People Clan for the Towering House People Clan.

Antonio worked at Long John Silvers. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, going to movies, entertaining people, cookouts, camping, and gardening.

Survivors include his parents, Ruby Antonio, Chee Antonio; step-father, Wallace Thomas; step-mother, Sophie Sandoval; brothers, Taullyn Antonio, Wesley Martin Thomas, David Ayers, Alexis Desheuquette, Alwyn Sandoval; sisters, Caladra Antonio, Shauna Antonio, Sonya Antonio, Cherri Antonio, Tina Atencio, Alwyna Sandoval.

Antonio was preceded in death by his grandparents, Rose and Lewis Sandoval, Martin Willeto Sr., Ester and Pioche Antonio.

Pallbearers will be Alexis Desheuquette, Aj Sandoval, Richard Antonio, Roland Antonio, Billy George Jr., Sean L. Sandoval, Shane L. Sandoval, TJ Sandoval, Jonathan Begay, David Ayers Sr.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Calandra Ayers.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Daniel Burnside

PINE SPRINGS — Services are pending for Daniel Haskie Burnside, 93.

Burnside died Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2009, in Flagstaff. He was born June 7, 1916, in Pine Springs, into the Folded Arms People Clan for the Big Water People Clan.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Joe Garcia Sr.

GALLUP — Funeral Mass for Joe Chavez Garcia Sr., 92, will be 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 3, at Sacred Heart Cathedral. The Very Rev. Lawrence J. O’Keefe will officiate. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Gallup. A rosary will be recited 6 p.m., Friday, Oct. 2, at Rollie Mortuary.

Garcia died Sept. 27, 2009, in Albuquerque. He was born May 19, 1917, in Gallup.

Garcia was a World War II veteran and was a member of the medical detachment 78th on duty in Africa, Italy and France. He was honorably discharged in 1945.

Survivors include his wife, Mercedes Garcia; sons, Cecilio Garcia, Joe Garcia, James Garcia, John Garcia; sister, Natividad “Nettie” Dodson; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

Garcia was preceded in death by his father, David Ortega Garcia; mother, Candelaria Chavez de Duron; siblings, Lorenzo, Modesta, Juan, Esperidiana, Prescilana, Cecilia, Hubbel, Emilio, David Jr., Melquiades I, Melquiades II, Lola Monday; two granddaughters; grandfather, Lorenzo Garcia, Cecilia Ortega de Garcia.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Altoya John

GALLUP — Funeral services for Altoya John, 20, will be 12:30 p.m., Oct. 2, at Cope Memorial, Gallup. Burial will be in Gallup City Cemetery, Gallup. Visitation will be at Cope Memorial.

John died Sept. 27, 2009, in Gallup. She was born July 17, 1989, in Arizona, into the Tangle People Clan for the Red Running Into the Water People Clan.

John graduated in 2007 from Wingate High School. Her hobbies included basketball, texting with friends and family, listening to music and being a auntie.

Survivors include her father, Alvin John of Jeddito; brothers, Nathaniel John, Altonio John, both of Jeddito; sisters, Alva John, Deana John, both of Thoreau.

John was preceded in death by her mother, Lucy Begay John; grandparents, Fransic Billy, Freddie Begay, Rita John, Tony K. John.

Pallbearers will be Nathaniel John, William Largo, Keeross Montoya, Larry White, Ronald Taliwood.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Churchrock Chapter, following services.

Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Mary Yazzie

CHURCHROCK — Services are pending for Mary B. Yazzie, 99.

Yazzie died Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2009, in Gallup. She was born March 10, 1910, in Breadsprings, into the Bitter Water People Clan for the Towering House People Clan.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
