Herbert Morgan Sr.

MANUELITO CANYON — Funeral services for Herbert Kee Morgan Sr., 100, will be 10 a.m., Oct. 26, at Rollie Mortuary. The Rev. Roger Davis will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Gallup.

Morgan died Oct. 22, 2009, in Manuelito Canyon. He was born Oct. 23, 1908, in Ganado, into the Edge Water People Clan for the English People Clan.

Morgan attended Ganado Mission School and Sherman Institute, Riverside, Calif. He was a Manuelito Chapter Council Delegate and Chapter Official and Eastern Agency Land Board member. Morgan worked at Camp Navajo Army Depot, Belmont, Ariz. and was a rancher and farmer.

Survivors include his sons, Herbert Morgan Jr., Henry Morgan, George Leo Morgan, all of Manuelito; daughters, Grace Morgan, Jean Morgan, both of Manuelito.

Morgan was preceded in death by his parents, Juan Lorenzo Hubbell, Ason Suie; wife, Louise Morgan; sisters, Miriam Martin, Margaret Curtis, Elsie Curtis, Nellie Yazzie, Pauline Yazzie; sons, Raymond Morgan, Thomas Morgan, Harry Morgan, Richard Morgan Sr., James Morgan; daughters, Ninibah Cahn, Ruth Green, Veronica Begay; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Justin Morgan, Derwin Morgan, Russell Morgan, Matthew Morgan, Duane Crawford, Jerald Begay.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Church of God, at 1 p.m., following services, in Manuelito.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Robert Parsons

GRANTS — Funeral services for Robert Lawrence (Bob) Parsons, 84, will be 10 a.m., Oct. 26, at Grace Baptist Church, Milan. Burial will be in Grants Memorial Park. The Rev. Dale Thatcher will officiate. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Oct. 25, at Grace Baptist Church.

Parsons died Oct. 22, 2009, in Grants. He was born Jan. 16, 1925, in Pharoah, Okla.

Parsons was a lifetime logger/truck driver, hauling millions of board feet of timber out of the Zuni Mountains and Mt. Taylor areas. Later, he switched to hauling ore form the uranium mines and gravel. He liked nothing better than telling funny jokes or playing tricks on somebody.

Parsons was known and loved by many who called him friend, Uncle Bob, grandpa, old grandpa or dad. He loved fishing, traveling the back roads and playing with his great-grandchildren. He never met a child that he did not love or one that did not love him back.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy Parsons of Grants; daughters, Cheryl Pemble of Grants, Karla McDaugale of Grants, Penny McDaugale of Grants; sisters, Fern Thigpen of Grants, Doreen Yates of Gallup, Joyce Dils of Cortez, Colo.; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.

Parsons was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Lawrence Parsons Sr., Myrtle Turnbull Parsons; son, Robert Keith Parsons; sisters, Lila Polish, Carrie South; brother, Bill Parsons; one great-grandson.

Pallbearers will be Scott Thigpen, Mel Simpson, Sam Dils, John Meador, Tyson McDaugale, Ryan Pemble.
