GALLUP — Whatever happened to Native American Appreciation Day?

From the late ’80s through the early part of this century, Gallupians would welcome Native Americans from all over the region one day a year and hold a celebration that would attract tens of thousands of people for contests, free food, fireworks and sporting events.
