ST. MICHAELS — Funeral Mass for Louise Nez, 94, will be 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 31, at St. Michaels Catholic Church, St. Michaels. The Rev. Gilbert Schneider will officiate. Burial will be in St. Michaels Community Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 31, at St. Michaels Catholic Church. Rosary will be 7 p.m., tonight, Oct. 30, at St. Michaels Catholic Church.
Nez died Oct. 27, 2009, in Fort Defiance. She was born Aug. 15, 1915, in St. Michaels, into the One Who Walks Around One People Clan for the Bitter Water People Clan.
Survivors include her son, David Nez of St. Michaels; 27 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
The family will receive relatives and friends at St. Michaels Chapter House, following services.
Silver Creek Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
THOREAU — Services for Shadrach Yazzie, 14, will be 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 31, at Thoreau Chapter. The Rev. Clarence Benally will officiate. Burial will be in Mariano Lake.
Yazzie died Oct. 24, 2009, in Thoreau. He was born July 24, 1955, in Gallup, into the Deer Springs People Clan for the Towering House People Clan.
Yazzie was attending Thoreau Mid School. His hobbies included listening to music, playing video games, collecting Yu-gi-yo cards and hanging out with friends and family.
Survivors include his parents, Austin Yazzie Sr., Mae C. Yazzie, both of Thoreau; brother, Austin Yazzie Jr. of Thoreau; sister, Josephine S. Bennett of Mariano Lake, Sharon C. Bennett of Albuquerque; grandparents, Maggie Casamero of Mariano Lake, Mary W.Yazzie of Bluewater.
Yazzie was preceded in death by his brother, Bronson G. Bennett; grandfathers, James Casamero, Nelson Yazzie.
Pallbearers will be Austin Yazzie Jr., Branson G. Bennett, Johnson Casamero, Jordan Yazzie, Daniel Ely Willie, Jerrison Jim.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Thoreau Church of God, following services.
Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
