Peery’s fate to be decided in November

GALLUP — Embattled Zuni Superintendent Kaye L. Peery is a step closer to learning her professional fate with this week’s recommendation to Education Secretary Veronica Garcia by hearing officer Barbara Anne Michael.

Beverly Friedman, a spokeswoman for the New Mexico Public Education Department, said Michael was slated to recommend this week to Garcia if Peery should forfeit her educational licensure for allegedly unprofessional behavior during her tenure at the helm of Zuni Public Schools.
