GALLUP — Mother Andrea Manuarritz has had much to celebrate recently and much to celebrate all year long.

Manuarritz, the superior for the Little Sisters of the Poor in Gallup, recently returned from Rome where she witnessed the Oct. 11 canonization ceremony in St. Peter’s Basilica for St. Jeanne Jugan, the humble French woman who founded the Congregation of the Little Sisters of the Poor, the Roman Catholic community of sisters dedicated to caring for needy elderly around the world.
