Brandon Burke

CHINLE — Funeral services for Brandon R. Burke, 32, will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 4, at Seventh Day Adventist Church, Kinlichee. Felix Vecchiarelli will officiate. Burial will be in Nazlini Community Cemetery.

Burke died Oct. 30, 2009, in Mesa. He was born Jan. 5, 1977, in Gallup, into the Salt People Clan for the Near to Water People Clan.

Burke graduated from Chinle High School and attended Dine College in Tsaile. She was a teacher in Marerville, Ill. and Mesa.

Survivors include her parents, Virginia and Raymond Burke; brother, Jason Burke; sisters, Renae Ayze, Melody Teppits.

Pallbearers will be Ty Red Mustache, Ronald Kirk, Shawn Ayze, Tyson Vandever, Vincent Nez, Lynol Vandever, Carlos Yazzie Jr., Brian Dedman.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Nazlini Chapter House, following services.

Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Raymond Cordova

GALLUP — Services are pending for Raymond Cordova, 47.

Cordova died Friday, Oct. 30, 2009, in Gallup. He was born April 26, 1962, in Gallup.

Robert Haley Sr.

MANUELITO — Services are pending for Robert Haley Sr., 78.

Haley died Nov. 1, 2009, in Gallup. He was born April 10, 1931, in Manuelito, into the Mexican People Clan for the Black Streak Forest People Clan.

Family gathering will be 6 p.m., Nov. 4, at Manuelito Chapter House.

Sam Lincoln

OJO ENCINO — Funeral services for Sam Lincoln, 74, will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 4, at Rollie Mortuary. Max Tomasiyo will officiate. Burial will be in St. Michaels. Visitation will be 3:30-4 p.m., today, Nov. 3, at Rollie Mortuary.

Lincoln died Oct. 29, 2009, in Gallup. He was born April 12, 1935, in Torreon.

Lincoln graduated from Phoenix Indian School and attended Junior College in Bakersfield, Calif., where he became a baker. He was also employed with Union Pacific Railroad, worked for BIA, and served in the U.S. Army in Fort Ore, Calif. His hobbies included writing, politics and caring for livestock.

Survivors include her brothers, Charles Lincoln, Valentino Lincoln, Wilbur Lincoln, Ray Lincoln; sisters, Dollie Mae Lincoln, Ella Gleason, Rita Lincoln.

Lincoln was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Lincoln Sr., Millie Lincoln; brothers, Elmer Lincoln, Tony Lincoln.

Pallbearers will be Michah Lincoln Sr., Jacqus Lincoln, Angelo Lincoln, Jamie Wato, Casey Gleason, Shawn Gleason.

The family will receive relatives and friends at St. Michaels Chapter House, following services.

Morningstar Mesteth

CHINLE — Services for Morningstar Mesteth, 31, will be 10 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 5, at the Potter’s House, Chinle. Visitation will be at the Potter’s house. A rosary will be recited 10 a.m., Nov. 5, in Chinle.

Mesteth died Oct. 30, 2009, in Flagstaff. She was born Dec. 15, 1978, in Denver, Colo., into the Water’s Edge People Clan for the Sioux People Clan.

Mesteth loved to read books and play volleyball. Her hobbies included drawing and reading.
Survivors include her sons, Terrell Mesteth, Myrle Mesteth; daughter, Mariah Mesteth; mother, Leona Eskeets; brothers, Harold Russell Jr., Leighton Russell; sister, Lariel Russell.

Mesteth was preceded in death by her father, Pete Mesteth; grandparents, Leonard Eskeets, Marie Eskeets.

The family will meet at 6 p.m., at Potter’s house, Chinle.

Aline Quam

ZUNI — Traditional wake for Aline Rose Quam, 64, was 9 a.m., Monday, Nov. 2, in Zuni. Private disposition will be in Panteah Cemetery. Visitation was 9 p.m., Nov. 2, in Zuni. A rosary was recited Nov. 2, in Zuni.

Quam died Oct. 31, 2009, in Zuni. She was born Nov. 9, 1944, in Zuni Pueblo.

Quam worked with Zuni Head Start and Lovelace, Dietary department, Albuquerque manor and retired. Her hobbies included cooking.

Survivors include her son, Rodney F. Quam; daughters,, Yolana Quam, Elana Olivis, Alisa Quam; brother, Ernest Quam; sisters, Gloria Quam, Vedna Landovazo, Iris Bellson, Margaret Frejo, Debrah Badua; six grandchildren.

Quam was preceded in death by her parents, Sidney and Margaret Quam; brothers, Richard F. Quam, Michael Quam.

Malcolm Roanhorse Sr.

GALLUP — Services are pending for Malcolm Roanhorse Sr., 38.

Roanhorse died Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009, in Gallup. He was born July 15, 1971, in Fort Defiance.

Family gathering will be 6 p.m., Nov. 3, at Naschitti Chapter House.

Paula Shirley-Nakai

DEER SPRINGS — Memorial services for Paula Ann Shirley-Nakai, 55, will be 1 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 4, at the Assembly of God Family Church, Fort Defiance. The Rev. Ken Delaney will officiate.

Shirley-Nakai died Oct. 31, 2009, in Fort Defiance. She was born Aug. 14, 1954, in Fort Defiance, into the Bitter Water People Clan for the Coyote Pass People Clan.

Shirley-Nakai earned a masters in Psychology from Northern Arizona University. She pursued her passion working with kids as a Guidance Counselor with Window Rock Unified School District. Her greatest love was her family.

Survivors include her husband, Herbert Nakai of Fort Defiance; sons, Lydell Max of Fruitland, Kyle Max of Vacaville, Calif.; daughters, Shaina Max of Mesa, Ashley Shea of Fort Defiance; mother, Bessie Marie Shirley of Deer Springs; brothers, Harold Shirley of Flagstaff, Peter Shirley of Yakima, Wash., Patterson Shirley of Gallup, Patrick Shirley of Deer Springs, Percy Shirley of Deer Springs, Peterson Shirley of Vancouver, Wash.; six grandchildren.

Shirley-Nakai was preceded in death by her father, Paul Shirley Sr.; grandparents, Juan and Mary Shirley; brother, Paul Shirley; sister, Laura Joe.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Assembly of God Fellowship Hall, following services.

Mabel Thompson

LITTLEWATER — Services are pending for Mabel B. Thompson, 88.

Thompson died Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009, in Albuquerque. He was born Dec. 9, 1920, in Crownpoint, into the Towering House People Clan for the Folded Arms People Clan.
