GALLUP — The controversy over the operation of Gallup’s golf course took a new twist last week.

At the center of the newest conflict was money — lots of it — that city officials said they needed to improve the golf course. Standing in the city’s way of getting all of this money, said city officials, was the Gallup Independent.
