GRANTS — When news of the possible closure of the New Mexico Women’s Correctional Facility hit Grants, some went into action, while others took a “wait and see” approach to the news.

The prison will be shut down as part of budget trimming measures if Gov. Bill Richardson signs the proposed budget and does not use his line-item veto power to remove the closure from the bill.
