Robert Arthur

CRYSTAL — Funeral services for Robert Arthur, 77, were 10 a.m., today, Nov. 10, at Navajo Bible Church, Crystal. Burial was in the family plot, Crystal.

Arthur died Nov. 5, 2009, in Crystal. He was born Oct. 28, 1932, in Crystal, into the Bear People Clan for the Salt People Clan.

Arthur graduated from Ganado Mission School and attended Riverside College, Riverside, Calif. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Crystal Veteran’s Association. Arthur enjoyed ranching, farming, tending to his sheep, reading and being with his friends and family.

Survivors include his son, Eugene Robert Arthur; daughters, Harriet Arthur, Roberta Jean Arthur; sisters, Jeanette Coonsis, Fern Bennett, Betti Delrow; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.

Arthur was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Arthur, Mary Arthur; daughter, Vivian J. Arthur.

Pallbearers were Arthur Bennett, Marvin Mose, Emery Arthur, Tony James, Tyrone Arthur, Rodgers Arthur.

The family received relatives and friends at Ralph and Fern Bennett’s residence, Crystal, following services.

Silver Creek Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.

Lewis Bennett

MILAN — Services for Lewis Bennett, 82, will be 10 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 12, at Compassion Mortuary. Burial will be in Grants Memorial Park, with full military honors by the VFW Lodge 3221. The Rev. Clyde Clark will officiate.

Bennett died Nov. 7, 2009, in Milan. He was born Sept. 24 , 1927, in Chester, W.V.
Bennett was a Veteran of the U.S. Army and served during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Bennett of Milan; sons, Roy Bennett of Milan, James Bennett of Silver City.

Bennett was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Bennett, Lottie McCoy Bennett; sister, Elva Adkins.

Pallbearers will be Terry Manning, Larry Diaz, Roy Bennett, Tad Fish, Jerry Talley.

Raymond Chavez

CHINO VALLEY, Ariz. — Services for Raymond Chavez Jr., 35, will be 10 a.m., Nov. 11, at Hosanna Church, Crownpoint. The Rev. Jean Martinez will officiate. Burial will be in Crownpoint Community Cemetery.

Chavez died Nov. 7, 2009, in Prescott. He was born Oct. 18, 1974, in Crownpoint, into the Hairy Ones People Clan for the Mexican People Clan.

Survivors include his son, Bradford Chavez; daughters, Savannah Rayne Chavez, Celestie Aprilene Kanesta, Trichelle Meagon Kanesta; parents, Raymond Chavez Sr., Irene Chavez; brother, Jasper Willie; sisters, Darlene Willie, Caroline Willie, Pauline Willie, Marlene Chavez, Renita Maestes, Gerline Charlie.

Chavez was preceded in death by his sister, Cindy Chavez.

Pallbearers will be Jasper Willie, Freddie Charlie Jr., Herman Henderson, Archie Cleveland, Francis Jake, Roger Jake.

The family will meet at North Valley housing #12, Crownpoint, following services.

BeauShannon Chee

NASCHITTI — Funeral services for BeauShannon Douglas Chee, 17, were 10 a.m., today, Nov. 10, at Desert View Funeral Home, Shiprock. Burial was in the family cemetery, Naschitti.

Chee died Nov. 5, 2009, in Naschitti. He was born May 21, 1992, in Albuquerque.

Survivors include his parents, Noland Chee, Phyllis Wilson, of Naschitti; brothers, Jared W. King, Oliver R. King, Dana H. Curtis, Tom Chee; sisters, Jacqueline S. King-Frank, Kandace R. Chee.

Desert View Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Chee Curtis

CROSS CANYON — Graveside services for Chee Curtis, 73, were 10 a.m., today, Nov. 10, in Kinlichee. Sister Josephine Goebel will officiate. Burial will be in Kinlichee Community Cemetery.

Curtis was born April 5, 1936, in Cross Canyon, into the Bitter Water People Clan for the One Who Walks Around People Clan.

Curtis attended Intermountain Indian School and was educated in the carpentry trade in San Jose, Calif. and San Francisco, Calif. He worked for various construction contractors building residential homes. He was also a rancher, raising horses and cattle. He was active with his grandchildren and loved his family.

Survivors include his brothers, Bennie Curtis Sr., Jones Curtis, Robert Curtis, Eddie Curtis, Edison Curtis; sisters, Alice Curtis, Angie Curtis, Mary Scott.

Curtis was preceded in death by his brother, Benjamin Curtis; parents, Nasbah Curtis, Sam Curtis; Franklin Curtis, Tom Curtis, Jack Curtis, Albert Eugene, Mabel Steve, Isabelle Curtis, Hasban Curtis.

The family received relatives and friends at Kinlichee Chapter, following services.

Janet Martinez

ALBUQUERQUE — Services are pending for Janet S. Unale Martinez, 50.

Martinez died Nov. 4, 2009, in Albuquerque. She was born July 1, 1959, in Gallup.

Grant Morgan

PINEDALE — Services are pending for Grant Morgan, 79.

Morgan died Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009, in Pinedale. He was born May 31, 1930, in Pinedale, into the Mountain Cove People Clan for the Towering House People Clan.

Beverly Willow

ETHETE, Wy. — Funeral services for Beverly Tabaha Willow, 68, will be Wednesday, Nov. 11.
Willow died Nov. 7, 2009, in Ethete, Wy. She was born Oct. 20, 1941, in Fort Defiance, into the Water’s Edge People Clan for the One Walks Around People Clan.

Willow was retired from the BIA in Fort Washakai, Wyo. She attended the University of Arizona receiving her BS in social services. She enjoyed basketball especially when family members play.

Survivors include her husband, Leo Willow; daughters, Clina Longtimesleeping, Nora Willow, Yvondora Buffalo; brother, Louis Tabaha; sisters, Marjorie Leo, Alvina Willow, Mary Louise; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

Willow was preceded in death by her father, Johnnie Tabaha Sr.; mother, Dollie Tabaha; brother, Johnnie Tabaha Jr.; sister, Diana Tabaha.
