Confession questioned Copyright © 2009 GALLUP — The jury listened Tuesday to the alleged confession of Joseph Evans. Reading from the 64-page transcript, attorneys on both sides presented for the jury the initial interview with Evans, which lasted more than three hours. The interview was conducted Sept. 18, 2005. The original tape recordings proved largely incomprehensible when prosecutors tried to play the tapes for the jury Tuesday. Instead attorneys on both sides agreed to role-play. Deputy Chief District Attorney Jim Bierly took the role of Agent Patrick Ness, while Evans’ attorney, Michael Rosenfield of Albuquerque, read the statements given by his client.
