Hopi Council eliminates tribal newspaper funding in 2010 budget Copyright © 2009 KYKOTSMOVI, Ariz. — The Hopi Tribal Council on Monday approved a $21.8 million budget for fiscal year 2010 that begins Jan. 1, adding more than $471,000 for the newly created executive director’s office and deleting funding for the Tutuveni, the tribe’s only newspaper. The Tribal Council also decided there will be no cost-of-living increases or salary increments for tribal employees, including grant and contract employees, according to a news release from the Hopi Tribe.
