Gallup received about 3-4 inches of snow Monday night and Tuesday morning, and dropping temperatures resulted in icy, snow-packed roads in the area. Gallup-McKinley County schools, Rehoboth schools, Catholic schools and UNM-Gallup were closed Tuesday.

A blast of cold air that moved into the area Thursday may also be responsible for a hypothermia death.
