Tohajilee considers seceding from the Navajo Nation

WINDOW ROCK — Several Navajo Nation Council delegates and some voters from the Western Navajo Agency expressed opposition to the Dec. 15 special election results that approved both a reduction in the Council membership and the presidential line-item veto.

Tohajilee Delegate Lawrence Platero, from the Eastern Navajo Agency, suggested secession as a possibility for his community — a remote satellite chapter located about 20 miles west of Albuquerque.
