Home cookin' crackdown Copyright © 2010 WINDOW ROCK — People selling yeast breads at local flea markets in New Mexico are just one group of individuals that potentially will be impacted by a new state regulation that takes effect Jan. 1. According to the rule change, individuals who sell home-based food products now are required to have a permit issued by the New Mexico Environment Department. The food permit costs $100 a year and will allow the sale of non-potentially hazardous foods that can be prepared in home-based food processing operations within state jurisdiction, according to NMED.
