Liver transplant provides needed miracle for Gallup man

GALLUP — To many of his friends, Martin Morales is affectionately called a “miracle man.” Fifteen months ago, Morales was in desperate need of a medical miracle and his chances of getting one looked pretty dicey.

A former drug offender who credits his transformed life to the power of God, Morales was a married father of four teenagers who had just received shattering news. After his health had begun to fail, Morales had been diagnosed with liver disease from hepatitis C — possibly caused by unclean tattoo needles years before — and he wasn’t expected to live much longer without a liver transplant.
