GALLUP — The pirates come out every weekend at flea markets all across the Navajo Reservation. After last Friday, they will have to go underground if they don’t want to take a chance of being arrested and going to jail.

These are the guys and girls, both young and old, who go around selling CDs of music from both contemporary and past musical groups on the reservation. The music may vary — country, rock and hip-hop — but they all have one thing in common — the Navajos who wrote the songs and play on the records do not see a penny from the sale of the records.
