Jimmie Lewis
RIO LOBO CANYON Funeral services for
Jimmie Coco Lewis, 62, will be 10 a.m., Monday, July 28, at the
Cope Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Sam Wilson will officiate. Burial
will be in family plot, Rio Lobo Canyon.
Lewis died July 24, 2008, in Gallup. He was
born Jan. 1, 1946, in Fort Defiance, into the Meadow People Clan
for the Red Running Into the Water People Clan.
Lewis graduated from Gallup High School in 1965.
He worked in various jobs. Lewis enjoyed ranch work, carpentry,
spending time with family, helping with traditional ceremonies
and giving a lending hand.
Survivors include his sons, Marty Lewis of Churchrock,
Shawn Jim Lewis of Tonela, Ariz., Cedric Jaye Lewis of Pinedale;
daughter, Madeline Charleston of Gallup; mother, Jennie B Lewis
of Rio Lobo Canyon; brothers, Roger Lewis of Gallup, Ernest Lewis
of Fallen Maple Canyon, Raymond Lewis of Pinedale, Tom Lewis Jr.
of Churchrock, David Lewis of Gallup, Ronald Lewis of Gallup;
sisters, Tillie Lewis of Mesa, Sara Montoya of Gallup, Shirlee
Lewis of Rio Lobo Canyon; eight grandchildren.
Lewis was preceded in death by Tom A. Lewis
Sr.
Pallbearers will be family and friends of Jimmie Lewis.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Pinedale Chapter
House, following services.
Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Katie Mestas
SAN RAFAEL Services for Katie V. Mestas,
85, will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 29, at the Compassion Mortuary.
Burial will be in Santa Fe National Cemetery at a later date.
Mestas died July 24, 2008, in San Rafael. She was born June 21,
1923, in Gallup.
Survivors include her children, Rosemary Trujillo
of San Rafael, Jessie Mestas of Los Lunas; four grandchildren;
six great-grandchildren.
Mestas was preceded in death by her husband,
Julian Mestas; parents, Florio Vigil, Dominica Sanchez Vigil.
