GALLUP — While Tohatchi Elementary was the only school in the Gallup-McKinley County School District to make Adequate Yearly Progress this year, five other schools came close, according to the state education Web site.

Two schools in the county — Navajo Pine and Ramah High — and three in the city — Jefferson Elementary, JFK Mid-School and Miyamura High School — all came within three indicators of passing AYP.

AYP is broken down into indicators, subgroups and population segments. The school’s student population as a whole can meet the standards but if any.
