Carla Atcitty
ALBUQUERQUE — Services for Carla Lynn Atcitty, 46, will be 10 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 13, at Cope Memorial Chapel, Gallup. The Rev. Kenneth Delaney will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Gallup.
Atcitty died Aug. 7, 2009, in Albuquerque. She was born Feb. 9, 1963, in Shiprock, into the Bitter Water People Clan.
Atcitty had an AA in Computerized Accounting from North American College. She loved to run and keep in shape.
Survivors include her sons, Devin Atcitty of Fort Defiance, Danny Atcitty III of Washington, D.C.; daughter, Natashia Atcitty of Moses Lake, Wash.; mother, Betty Begay of Crownpoint; brothers, Marshall Begay Jr., Darryl Begay, both of Albuquerque, Everett Begay of Crownpoint; sister, Beth of Las Cruses.
Atcitty was preceded in death by her father, Marshall Begay Sr.; brothers, Bob Begay, Harlyn Begay; sisters, Dylene Begay, Corynthia DeLeon.
Pallbearers will be Danny Atcitty III, Ryan Begay, Mike Trujillo, Dominic Trujillo, Donovan Begay, Dylan Begay.
The family will receive relatives and friends at 1:30 p.m, Aug. 13.
Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Parnell Begay
WHIPPOORWILL — Funeral services for Parnell Ryan Begay, 21, will be 1 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 13, at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, Chinle. The Rev. Blane Greinm, OFM, will officiate. Burial will be in Black Mountain Community Cemetery.
Begay died Aug. 8, 2009, in Burnside. He was born March 7, 1988, in Fort Defiance, into the Salt Water People Clan for the Black Streak Wood People Clan.
Begay attended the Chinle school district and graduated in 2007, and was currently attending Pima Community College. He was outstanding in academics and sports, especially in basketball, baseball and as a Header in team roping. He was known for his smile and politeness to everyone.
Survivors include his parents, Peterson and Rena Begay; brothers, Myron Pete Begay, Lamar Ryan Begay; grandparents, Tully Wartz, Virginia Begay.
Begay was preceded in death by his sister, Marciana Begay; brother, Emmanuel L. Begay; grandparents, Louise Nez Wartz, Alex Begay Sr.
Pallbearers will be Randy Wartz, Kenny Wartz, Matt Denny, Kynard Begay, Jarvis Draper, Ryan Billy, BI Shorty.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Begay’s residence, 2 miles east of Whippoorwil Chaper, following services.
Tse Bonito Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Leo Gomez
TEMPLE, Texas — Funeral Mass for Leo Gomez, 71, will be 10 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 13, at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Gallup. The Very Rev. Lawrence J. O’Keefe will officiate. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Santa Fe.
Gomez died Aug. 4, 2009, in Temple. He was born Jan. 20, 1937, in Gallup.
Gomez donated his body to the Genesis Center for Medical Research after a long illness. He was a Navy Veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Martin of Temple, Texas; sons, Eddie, Daniel of California; daughters, Yvonne, Elaine of California; brother, Danny Gomez of Albuquerque; sister, Corrine Andler of Gallup; numerous grandchildren.
Gomez was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob Gomez, Annie Ross; son, Leo Jr.; brothers, Arthur Gomez, Richard Gomez; sister, Geraldine Espinosa.
Mary Peshlakai
LUKACHUKAI — Funeral services for Mary Elsie Peshlakai, 105, will be 11 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 13, 2009, at St. Isabel Mission, Lukachukai.
Interment will be in Lukachukai Community Cemetery. Viewing will be 10-11 a.m., one hour prior to services.
Peshlakai died Sunday, Aug. 9, 2009, in Farmington. She was born July 1, 1904, at Lukachukai.
Desert View Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
