ST. JOHNS — Apache County’s “Million-Dollar Man,” former Sheriff Brian Hounshell, so called because the county spent over $1 million to prove him guilty of using a county trailer to haul a vehicle for his son, will serve as an investigator in the County Attorney’s Office. Hugh Lynch, Hounshell’s sidekick, will serve as community liaison.

County Attorney Michael B. Whiting realizes that he’s going to get negative publicity about the hirings because both men campaigned for Whiting’s election, but Whiting said a committee of three top employees in his office went over all the applications and chose Hounshell and Lynch because of their extensive law enforcement and community outreach experience.
